Exciting Opportunity: Lead Transformative Change and Empower Marginalized Communities!
Are you passionate about driving systemic change and elevating community voices?
As the Manager of Equity and Inclusion, reporting to the Director of Culture and Inclusion, you’ll be at the helm of initiatives that challenge barriers, amplify marginalized voices, and build equitable and inclusive communities. This role requires strategic vision, empowering collaborative leadership, and a deep commitment to fostering transformative change.
As a leader, you’ll guide and inspire both direct and indirect teams to achieve excellence in DEIA, setting clear goals and driving performance every step of the way. You’ll lead implementation of Peel’s DEI strategy and change management efforts, while guiding divisions through the process of embedding equity and inclusion into Peel programs and services. Your leadership will be key in implementing strategies that shape policies, transform processes, and support community wellbeing.
You’ll develop evaluation mechanisms to track progress on Peel’s goal to decolonize systems and mindsets and capacity-building initiatives, ensuring systemic change through clear performance indicators. You’ll provide strategic guidance to senior leaders and teams working on increasing competencies in equity, inclusion and reconciliation.
You’ll lead the design and execution of capacity-building strategies that elevate Indigenous peoples, racialized communities, and equity-seeking groups, empowering them to participate in decision-making processes and lead community-driven initiatives. Working closely with senior leaders, divisions, and community collaborators, you’ll ensure that all efforts are aligned with broader diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) goals.
A key aspect of your work will be building strong, ongoing relationships with Indigenous communities, ensuring their needs are at the heart of program delivery, while advancing truth and reconciliation. You’ll also develop evaluation mechanisms to measure long-term progress.
Your role will also involve leading advisory committees, revising land acknowledgment practices, and conducting assessments to identify and address systemic barriers. You will consult with Indigenous communities and equity-seeking groups, developing community engagement strategies that foster collaboration and empower grassroots initiatives. You’ll collaborate with Peel leaders and community collaborators to create frameworks and resources needed to sustain and advance community wellbeing.
