Department Overview

The Practice Management team is dedicated to the training and development of client facing advisors, leaders and support professionals across TD Wealth's Advice Businesses (Financial Planning and Private Wealth Management).

Our team is focused on developing critical skills and providing thought leadership to drive advisor and business growth. We work in close partnership with a variety of TD Wealth teams to provide end to end support on Leadership, Business Development and Relationship Management skills. We are focused on enabling our advisors to deliver Legendary Clients Experiences through every stage of their Client Service and Relationship model.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate and creative Manager of Learning Strategy & Design to be primarily responsible for the end-to-end ownership for a portfolio of learning programs ranging in size, scope and complexity. This includes leading high-quality training needs assessments to enable learning solution recommendations, developing and executing on training strategies and delivering end-to-end learning project management including oversight of content development, training budget management and coordination of "train-the-trainer", field delivery and post implementation reviews for their projects. This individual will work collaboratively with Learning Experience Designers, delivery teams along with Wealth business partners, stakeholders, and Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to support achievement of business strategic priorities. They will also be driven to understand the fundamentals of each line of business we support to manage programs that effectively align to our learner's needs.

Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic direction and manage projects to deliver timely, high quality, creative and leading-edge learning solutions that align with business strategy, objectives and positively impact business and TD metrics.
  • Plan, develop, launch and oversee overall training programs including identifying and managing tasks, deliverables, timelines, critical success factors, track resources, work effort, budget and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Conduct comprehensive learning needs analyses and develop Learning Strategies to enable delivery of detailed learning recommendations and collaborate to build training work packages and learning solutions, in line with documented Practice Management processes and procedures.
  • Participate in cross functional project teams to enable completion of timely deliverables, ensure buy-in and ownership and necessary approvals and escalations.
  • Partner with Learning Experience Designers to ensure development deliverables are in line with overall project objectives and adhere to adult learning principles and contemporary learning styles.
  • Conduct post implementation reviews and provide recommendations to elevate the learner's experience and better achieve business objectives.
  • Remain current on new developments in the wealth advisory services capabilities and industry.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in Practice Management to provide advice and guidance to business partners and project teams regarding best practices that are built upon a solid understanding of the business and learning expertise.
  • Support and enhance the Practice Management and TD Brand (corporate; customer; business) by maintaining high personal and professional standards for all activities, publications, and deliverables.
  • Consistently build learning consulting capability to support a learning centre of excellence; provide peer coaching with fellow consultants and learning experience designers to enable broad capability build; champion and own creation and consistent use of best in class common practices, processes and measures across the design/development, program evaluation and learning consulting functions.
  • Partner with delivery/coaching teams, business partners and others to ensure effective and timely business “subject matter expert” support, deliver comprehensive “train the trainer,” transition and sustainment processes, and comply with all audit and other business requirements as applicable.

Skills & Experience

  • Subject matter expert with experience in learning consulting and needs analysis, demonstrated and comprehensive knowledge the principles of adult learning, project management and business acumen.
  • Confident and credible, collaborative partnering with business and other stakeholders.
  • Understands wealth management and the Bank, including the wealth industry, advisory roles, products, systems, procedures and structure, securities industry, regulations and procedures.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and organizational awareness, change management leadership, good judgment and decision making, operational and service excellence.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to independently manage project plans and execute on deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Highly motivated individual with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Analytical thinker with ability to think critically, solve problems and manage various projects simultaneously in a fast-paced demanding environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to impact/influence and build consensus among multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Passionate about creating legendary client and colleague experiences at every opportunity.
  • Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines and complex curriculum build streams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate with business partners, senior management and executive audiences (verbal and written).
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly and change priorities as required to changing requirements.
  • Ability to make sound decisions, recommend solutions to resolve conflicts and/or significant issues within the project mandate.
  • Foster and contribute to a positive, inclusive and constructive work environment.

Required education and/or accreditation

  • University degree preferred
  • Post-secondary degree in Adult Education or an equivalent combination of education and experience an asset
  • A relevant Learning & Development designation or Certification/degree would be an asset
  • Project Management certification would be an asset
