Job Summary: As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety & striving to exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities: Functioning as a core member of the operational team and reporting to the Manager/Supervisor as a Cleaner, you may be required to perform some of the following tasks:

• Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
• Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors
• Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required
• Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor
• Transport maintenance machinery, where necessary, between floors and job sites
• Cleans and stores equipment and machinery used
• Cleans glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach
• Cleans washroom floors including stripping and finishing
• Cleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required
• Loads and unloads supplies and replenishes cleaning solutions
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
• Steam clean or shampoo carpets
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas

Job Requirements:

• Experience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment
• Experience in using floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, materials and solutions
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS
• Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships
• Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays and shifts as assigned
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain manual and electronic records

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation:

• Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable
• Must have a valid Class G license (may be required)

Physical demands:

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
