An incredible opportunity to support the Wendy’s growth in the Canada Market by managing Wendy’s restaurant new build and reimages entire development cycle from due diligence and site investigations; to design management; procurement and tender; and construction and post construction. This position requires high organization and communications skills to oversee multiple high-profile projects, interact and support our Franchisees, build contractors and suppliers networks, and manage consultants and contractors.

The main purpose of this position will be to manage 20-30 company and franchise projects (new build and reimage) valued at 35 -45 million per year. The position has emphasis on managing: people; communication; resources; and problems over high-profile projects. The CM role is responsible for managing Wendy’s Company Built to Suite (BTS), and Franchisees’ Projects, having the franchisee as an external “client”; acting as a guardian of the Wendy’s brand providing high quality brand compliant projects; and keeping project schedule and budget controls for all projects.

We encourage leveraging technology and remote communication tools, travel is required ~50% of the time.


Company Projects / BTS: The CMs will manage the entire development cycle including: due diligence; site investigations; sourcing, hiring and supervising architects and engineers; managing the project through entitlements (zoning, architectural review boards, city councils) and building permits; writing scopes of work for each project; sourcing, hiring, bidding, selecting and contracting with general contractors; utilities upgrades; construction supervision; turnover to operations; and post construction.

Franchisee Projects: The CM will use their Wendy's knowledge and development expertise to perform projects for franchisees paying a fee for these services. This program requires a great emphasis on customer service and the CM to interfaces directly with the Franchisee and their teams. The CM will manage the entire development cycle as described above.

Pipeline Development: While performing the yearly project’s goals, the CMs also supports the next year pipeline development. This requires: site investigation study and report; site specific preliminary and capital approval budgets; test fits and site plan review with design team; preliminary schedules (T-minus); and others.

Effective communication and data tracking: Responsible for keeping internal project management system (Gateway) updated for all current and future new build and reimage projects and updating cross functional partners as needed. Including participating and leading respective topics in regional and corporate regular meetings, and have active and effective communication with real estate, design, operations and technology partners.

Process Improvement: CM will play an active role in developing processes and best practices, as well as department policy on recognition, communications, education, etc.

Cost Management / Value Creation: The CM will be responsible for cost consolidation; studies and reporting for the whole market and will be leading cost savings initiatives and reporting for the market.


Source, hire, contract with, train and supervise external resources such as engineers, architects and general contractors. Write scopes of work and contracts and approve progress payments to contractors.

Work with entitlement agencies to secure variances and to modify Wendy’s Prototype Design requirements to meet the jurisdictional requirements.

Solve problems associated with drawing changes required to meet local codes.

Works with local cities and municipalities to secure permits and variances. Work with external and internal resources to gather the necessary data to enable them to accurately budget and schedule the project from site investigation all the way through opening.

Make decisions to solve jobsite construction problems.

Decide whether a site can actually have a project built per code and site investigation before Wendy's or the franchisee spends a lot of money on it.


Education: Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering or equivalent work experience.

Three years of experience with restaurant roll-out programs.

Two years of experience with remodel programs

Knowledge of construction processes and techniques, project planning and budgeting, construction materials/specifications, building codes, zoning laws, contracts,

Strong negotiation, communication and management skills.


Position requires 50% travel.

Position location West Canada.

The base pay range for this position is listed below. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position. * The target annual bonus for this role is XX% of annualized base salary, based on actual company and personal performance.
