Reporting to the Product Owner, the Conveyancing Software Business Analyst will work closely with the Product team and the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in conveyancing to support the development, optimization, and ongoing success of Unity, our conveyancing software product, specifically focused on meeting the unique needs of the British Columbia (BC) market. This role will ensure that Unity is tailored to the legal, regulatory, and business requirements of BC's conveyancing practices while maintaining a seamless user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering: Work with clients, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to understand their needs and document detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
- Business Process Analysis: Analyse and map out existing business processes within conveyancing practices, identifying areas of improvement and automation opportunities.
- Software Specification: Develop and maintain clear and detailed software specifications and user stories for the development team.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main point of contact between business stakeholders, project managers, and the development team, ensuring alignment throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Assist in the creation of test plans and test cases, ensuring the software meets the business requirements and adheres to industry regulations. Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and address any issues or defects that arise.
- Work directly with the SME to ensure Unity aligns with BC's legal requirements, real estate practices, and specific conveyancing needs.
- Translate BC-specific regulations, workflows, and business challenges into actionable product features and enhancements for Unity.
- Leverage SME knowledge to guide the development of features that are relevant to the BC market, such as integrating local property laws, tax codes, and conveyancing practices.
- Assist the Product Manager and Product Owner in defining and refining Unity’s product roadmap, ensuring features align with BC market requirements and address industry-specific needs.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Law, or a related field.
- Experience in the conveyancing industry or legal tech is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of conveyancing processes, from property transactions to legal documentation.
- Experience with business analysis methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Familiarity with conveyancing software solutions and their integration with third-party systems.
- Problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience with creating and maintaining process flows, requirements documentation, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant legal regulations and compliance standards in conveyancing.
- Experience with software testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and system implementation.
