About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance of all aspects of Rogers Place. Reporting to the Director, Operations & Maintenance, the Maintenance Technician has responsibility for all routine repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance of the building, equipment, and systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional capable of troubleshooting issues, performing repairs, and collaborating effectively.

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Responsible for the execution of corrective and preventative maintenance work relating to:
  • Painting
  • Drywall
  • Door Systems – Automatic and Manual
  • Flooring
  • Glazing
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing (Basic)
  • Electrical (Basic)
  • Tiling
  • Wall and Ceiling systems
  • Building Envelope
  • Arena Dasher Board Systems
  • Create and update Computerized Maintenance Management System records to document work, including providing feedback to requestors as required.
  • Utilize computer systems for record-keeping, work orders, and other job-related tasks.
  • Manage purchasing within budgetary guidelines.
  • Operate power tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
  • Support and direct contracted work as applicable.
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve operational and maintenance issues.
  • Other maintenance tasks as required.
  • Available on “on-call” basis during off hours for emergency situations.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum 3 years’ of relevant maintenance experience
  • Completion of relevant trade or technical certification is considered a strong asset.
  • Painting and drywall experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in sports and entertainment venues preferred
  • Expertise with operating a variety of equipment including hand and power tools is required.
  • Familiarity with arena dasher systems considered an asset.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to effectively balance competing priorities and triage appropriately.
  • Sound ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
