NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

We are seeking a highly skilled safety supervisor to join our team on a one year contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for site audits, ensuring compliance with site rules and OHSA regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of construction safety, working in a fast-passed environment, ability to work overtime and/or shift work may be required. Knowledge of Confined space regulations, Working at Heights is necessary.


Responsibilities:

  • Immediately report any emergencies related to construction, safety, or equipment installation to supervisors and initiate emergency response procedures.
  • Provide daily updates to managers verbally and through email.
  • Conduct audits to ensure tasks are assigned to workers in accordance with documented PHD or procedural guidelines.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations, and NextStar’s Health & Safety program. Ensure that all workers understand and comply with the principles outlined in the Health and Safety Program, follow specific safe operating procedures, and utilize necessary engineering controls, safeguarding devices, or equipment.
  • Ensure work is consistently performed in a safe manner and that all workers utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Provide clear verbal and written instructions to workers outlining safety measures and procedures for their protection.
  • Conduct thorough workplace inspections, informative sessions, investigations, and training sessions as necessary. Address any substandard acts or conditions promptly.
  • Perform regular employee safety observations to maintain and improve safety standards.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in construction/manufacturing and safety environment is required.
  • Post-secondary education or higher in a relevant field is required.
  • Understanding of Construction regulations.
  • Valid and clean driver's license "G" is required.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel tool-based report writing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (public speaking experience an asset).
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to achieve team goals and targets.
  • The applicant must be able to walk long distances and climb when required.
