Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will support the daily financial
management of our project portfolio. The Project Accountant will work closely with project staff, vendors, and clients to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, cost reconciliation, and financial reporting, contributing to the successful financial delivery of our construction projects.
This is position is based in either Edmonton or Winnipeg dependent on the successful candidate's place of residence.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will support the daily financial
management of our project portfolio. The Project Accountant will work closely with project staff, vendors, and clients to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, cost reconciliation, and financial reporting, contributing to the successful financial delivery of our construction projects.
This is position is based in either Edmonton or Winnipeg dependent on the successful candidate's place of residence.
What You Will Be Working On
- Collaborate with the project team to deliver timely monthly and quarterly financial information.
- Ensure the reliability and completeness of project-related financial records, including P&L and operational balance sheet accounts, as part of the month-end close process.
- Prepare, review, and submit journal entries as part of the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support accounts payable processes for timely invoice and payment processing.
- Perform routine cost reviews, reconciliations, and analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accurate financial reporting and project cost controls.
- Compile and validate expense reports, labor, equipment, material, and sub-trade (LEMS) data to prepare detailed cost reimbursable and monthly progress billings with proper supporting documentation.
- Review and analyze cost and billing reports to ensure proper management of cost codes, contract items, charge-out rates, and markups.
- Validate and reconcile project recoveries to ensure correct allocations and compliance.
- Conduct PST self-assessments for applicable provinces, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Support project closeout processes by completing final reconciliations.
- Assist the accounting team with special projects and ad-hoc financial requests as needed.
- Undergraduate or university degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- 3+ years of project accounting experience. Solid understanding of project accounting, cost reports, and experience dealing with operations
- Excellent Excel skills
- Knowledge of Viewpoint, 4castplus, InEight, OnBase, and/or Prophix is an asset.
- Industrial and public company experience is an asset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, handle pressure, and meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrates urgency and commitment to achieving goals in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communicator, motivator, and results-oriented with strong organizational skills
