Inspire Possibility. Lead with Purpose.

At Elmwood School, we believe that a child’s first learning experiences should be filled with joy, curiosity, and a deep sense of belonging. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to lead our March Break and Summer Camp programs for children enrolled in Elmwood’s Pre-Kindergarten program, while also providing periodic support in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom throughout the academic year.

This dual role offers the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with our youngest students and their families, build continuity between camp and classroom, and create nurturing experiences that lay a strong foundation for future learning.

Key Responsibilities

March Break & Summer Camp Leadership

  • Design and deliver a joyful, play-based camp program tailored to girls from ages 2 1/2 to 4 currently enrolled in Elmwood’s Pre-Kindergarten program.
  • Plan weekly and daily activities that blend creativity, nature, movement, early literacy, STEM, and social-emotional learning in meaningful ways.
  • Supervise and support additional camp staff to ensure consistent, high-quality care and programming.
  • Engage with families in a warm, professional manner, building trust through clear communication and thoughtful interactions.
  • Ensure all safety and wellness protocols are upheld and the learning environment remains safe, organized, and welcoming.

School-Year Pre-Kindergarten Support

  • Collaborate with Pre-Kindergarten educators to support classroom learning and student wellbeing throughout the academic year on a scheduled, part-time basis.
  • Contribute to a consistent and caring environment where young learners can explore, play, and grow with confidence.
  • Help facilitate learning experiences that align with Elmwood’s inquiry-based approach and our commitment to nurturing the whole child.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) in Ontario.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with young children, ideally in both classroom and camp settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and lead play-based learning experiences that foster creativity, independence, and collaboration.
  • Experience working in a school environment and/or supporting early learning classrooms is an asset.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check required prior to hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative, joyful, and student-centred approach to teaching and caregiving.

Why Join Elmwood?

Elmwood School is a national leader in girls’ education, and our Pre-Kindergarten program reflects our belief in nurturing good people from the very beginning. As the first school in North America accredited in all three levels of the International Baccalaureate, and a proud Apple Distinguished School, we offer an enriched environment that honours wellness, celebrates curiosity, and sparks the earliest steps of lifelong learning.

In this role, you will play a meaningful part in shaping experiences that help girls grow into confident, kind, and capable learners—both during the school year and through joyful camp experiences.
