Role Description:
This is a remote volunteer role for a Social Media Specialist. As a Social Media Specialist with Engage, you will work remotely with other team members to support the development and implementation of communication strategies across multiple internal projects. Day-to-day tasks include conducting research, developing content for social media platforms, drafting press releases, developing communication plans, and tracking policy coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a social media strategy to increase visibility and engagement across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Create and curate engaging content, including posts, images, and videos, that align with our mission and resonate with our audience.
- Monitor social media channels and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute campaigns, events, and initiatives, leveraging social media to promote participation and generate excitement.
- Monitor trends and best practices in social media and communications, making recommendations for optimization and improvement.
- Assist in the creation of press releases, newsletters, and other external communications materials as needed.
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets, influencers, and other partners to expand our reach and impact.
- Track and analyze metrics to measure the effectiveness of our communications efforts, providing regular reports and insights to inform future strategies.
- Represent [Organization Name] professionally and positively in all communications and interactions.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience managing social media accounts (LinkedIn, Instagram) for an organization preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messaging to Youth.
- Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and engaging content creation.
- Familiarity with social media analytics tools and platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Engage.
- Experience in a non-profit or similar organization is a plus
- Availability to dedicate approximately 10 hours max per week to the role.
