The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position with a highly motivated, team-orientated professional:

Permanent Part-Time Registered Practical Nurse- Ambulatory Care Services

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Ambulatory Care plays a key role in delivering advanced, patient-centered care across multiple outpatient programs, including Wound Care, Infusion Clinics, and OTN (Ontario Telemedicine Network).

Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services & Specialty Clinics, the RPN provides high-quality, therapeutic, and family-centered care while supporting seamless coordination between patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. This role combines hands-on clinical expertise with technology-driven care, ensuring patients receive timely, safe, and compassionate services close to home.

Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide wound assessment, treatment, and ongoing management for acute and chronic conditions
  • Administer and monitor infusion therapies in accordance with CNO standards and hospital policy
  • Coordinate and facilitate OTN/virtual specialist consultations, ensuring smooth patient navigation
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment, self-care, and follow-up procedures
  • Promote patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based best practices

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interprofessional care team
  • Provide mentorship and support to students and new staff
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, committee work, and continuous education

Professional Practice

  • Adhere to the Standards of Practice set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Maintain competence in clinical skills and ongoing awareness of new technology and best practices
  • Participate in professional development and hospital education initiatives

Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • 1-2 years of recent experience in hospital, primary care, or acute care setting preferred
  • Advanced Wound Care education or certification (WOCC(C), CWCN, or equivalent) considered an asset
  • Experience with infusion therapy and virtual/OTN care coordination preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and teamwork
  • Proven attendance record and ability to perform the essential duties of the position
