Retail Deposits and Investments Technology team within Global Wealth Management Technology is looking for a Director, Development who is responsible for the execution and delivery of technology solutions and lead the development and support of Investment Platform that powers Branch, Web, Mobile and Call Centre for different Investment journeys rendered to retail customers and Advisors. This role will be responsible for driving foundational maintenance and stability initiatives on the Investment Platform and Omni-channel initiatives like Smart Investor. Reporting to the Director & Head of Foundational Maintenance, this role plays a key part in translating vision into executable plans and ensuring those plans are delivered with a high level of quality, stability, and stakeholder alignment.

  • Manage and mentor a large organization of high performing technology professionals supporting a wide array of technical accountabilities in software development, roadmap development/execution and support

  • Be passionate about building modern solutions utilizing the best-in-class software engineering principles to deliver high quality and high-impact functionality with operational resilience
  • Execute on the strategic roadmap, ensuring seamless transition from strategy to technical implementation, and fostering continuous feedback loops between engineering and the business
  • Drive platform resiliency and operational readiness, ensuring application reliability through meaningful KPIs and performance SLA’s coupled with comprehensive monitoring, proactive issue identification, great incident management processes including retrospective root cause analysis of key incidents
  • Collaborate with business and other technology partners such as Risk, Audit, and Cybersecurity to proactively identify and mitigate technology risks
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and help make right decisions

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills
  • Experience leading technology in Banking or other FI is a significant asset
  • Retail Investments Business knowledge and experience is an asset
  • 10+ years of progressively increasing leadership experience in Information Technology management data, platform, and system(s) management
  • University degree in Computer Engineering/Applied Science/ Technology, or relevant work experience
  • Experience delivering complex, high-availability digital products at scale
  • Vendor management skills to deal with multiple third-party product vendors for projects and support
  • Expertise in Agile Methodology
  • Experience delivering multi-million-dollar projects serving multiple business stakeholders with a high degree of quality
  • Excellent organization, planning, time management and delegation skills with proven ability to manage multiple competing and complex initiatives
