Waste Audit – Team Lead at AET Group
Location: Travel throughout Canada and United States (based in Ontario)
Reports To: Waste Audit Manager and Manager of Waste Analytics and Development

Indirect Reports: Waste Audit Technicians (project-based)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Waste Audit – Team Lead to support and coordinate waste audit teams in the field. This role is field based and involves regular travel across Ontario, throughout Canada and occasionally into the United States. You will lead waste audit activities, direct and support Waste Audit Technicians, and serve as the primary on site contact for Project Managers.
Hours vary based on project demands. Early mornings, weekend work and overnight travel may be required. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being hands on, thrives in fast-paced field environments, and brings strong leadership capability along with a passion for environmental work.
What You’ll Be Doing
Approximately 75 percent of your time will involve fieldwork:
- Lead and participate in on site waste audits following AET protocols and client requirements
- Collect, sort, weigh and categorize waste materials safely and accurately
- Ensure proper labelling and data integrity
- Support audits across residential single and multi family, industrial, commercial, institutional, landfill and material recovery facilities
In addition you will:
- Act as the on-site lead and primary contact for Project Managers
- Coordinate and motivate waste audit team members
- Prepare project materials, PPE and equipment prior to audit start
- Oversee site setup and logistics and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Complete data entry and verify data accuracy
- Assist with preliminary data review and audit summaries
- Support quality assurance tasks, special projects and field coordination needs

Education and Experience
- Post secondary education in Environmental Studies or related field preferred
- One to two years of waste audit or field operations experience preferred
- Prior waste or recycling audit exposure considered an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Excel and Word required
- Experience driving a truck and trailer preferred

Licences and Travel
- Valid Ontario G licence with clean drivers abstract
- Ability to travel within Ontario, throughout Canada and occasionally into the United States
- Comfort with early mornings, overnight travel and weekend work when required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 20 kilograms
- Standing, walking, twisting and handling materials for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Personal Protective Equipment
PPE must be used at all times while performing field activities. AET provides:
- Half mask respirator, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat and reflective vest
CSA approved safety boots are required and reimbursed after successful completion of probation.
