Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge? We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Environmental Partnerships. Please note that the candidate may be based in one of our 4 offices: Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto or Ottawa.

The role

Reporting to the Vice President, Environment, you will play a leading role in protecting biodiversity and combating climate change: as a senior advisor, you will be at the heart of the organization's major environmental issues. You will have the opportunity to build and maintain strategic partnerships with a variety of stakeholders and influence internal strategy to fully integrate sustainable development. Your expertise will enable you to implement innovative solutions and lead collaborative projects with a high environmental impact, actively contributing to carbon neutrality and the conservation of natural environments.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose strategic directions and environmental policies aligned with objectives such as carbon neutrality and positive biodiversity.
  • Contribute to positioning the project as a sustainable initiative by drawing on internationally, nationally, and provincially recognized frameworks.
  • Provide technical and regulatory expertise on environmental issues and monitor legislative and societal developments.
  • Track and integrate innovations and best practices to reduce environmental impact.
  • Develop a partnership strategy consistent with regulations and project objectives.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with strategic partners (governments, NGOs, Indigenous communities, businesses, academic institutions).
  • Ensure that partnerships are consistent with public policy and collaborate with federal and provincial authorities.
  • Lead and coordinate environmental projects, including carbon offset initiatives, ecological restoration, and applied research.
  • Collaborate with the internal team and private development partner to implement appropriate action plans and ensure follow-up on commitments.
  • Participate in the planning and supervision of communication, consultation, and public engagement activities related to the project.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (environment, engineering, science, or equivalent); master's degree in management or environmental studies considered an asset.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a similar position, preferably with knowledge of linear projects, the railway sector, or transportation.
  • Experience in the public or parapublic sector desired.
  • Proficiency in provincial and federal regulatory frameworks and environmental compliance processes.
  • Significant experience in regulatory processes (federal and/or provincial).
  • Good knowledge of ESG frameworks and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14001, Act4Nature, TNFD).
  • In-depth understanding of environmental issues and assessments, applicable laws and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships.
  • Ability to influence and mobilize internally around environmental objectives and strategic projects.
  • Motivational leadership to guide employees toward common solutions in biodiversity and natural environments.
  • Ability to simplify complex information for a variety of audiences.
  • Good judgment, analytical skills, political savvy, and diplomacy.
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written.
