As Country Manager at Beiersdorf Canada, you will exercise substantial authority over the planning, direction, and overall management of the company's Canadian operations. You lead and hold legal and risk responsibility for the Canada Unit under the Management Unit (MU) of North America and EUNA
Main accountabilities
Competitive Strategy and Business Planning
- Develop and steer short/medium- and long-term country business strategies in line with MU strategy to drive sustainable growth and profitability and achieve No 1 market position.
- Analyse market potential, emerging trends and local consumer insights to identify new feasible business opportunities to support business growth and strengthen market position.
- Oversee annual planning processes: PMP/Customer Business Planning/ABP across the country unit in alignment with the MU.
- Monitor and ensure excellent execution of the Company’s strategies, functional plans as agreed in Annual Business Plan.
- Ensure achievement of the country’s top line, bottom line and company’s KPIs, and joint accountability of MU business targets.
- Negotiate long term commitments with partners such as customers, distributors, other external stakeholders.
- Ensure the activation of Global and Regional Marketing priorities and innovations in the activation country.
- Be responsible and accountable for all local Sales functions, Sales Strategy, Shopper & Customer Marketing, Business Intelligence including Shopper Activation, as well as management of the customers within Canada in alignment with the GM of the MU and in collaboration with the EUNA VP Sales.
- Lead customer development and build excellent customer relationships. Lead and decide on operational customer management and if needed, part of international agreements with Global Customers, supporting the delivery of global customer strategy and objectives.
- Be responsible for Distributor Management together with the respective Commercial Manager. Focus on maximising the business opportunity while respecting the framework of the Distributor set up with regards to compliance and existing regulations.
- Lead and decide on local POS opportunities and their implementation for all product categories ensuring product representation and visibility is maximised at the point of sale and aligned to the various brand strategies and EUNA priorities.
- Operationally steer Customer Management based on the Sales Excellence framework to maximise Availability, Visibility and Pricing to trade.
- With local Sales Management and Finance, develop, implement and control a customer Trade Terms and Conditions (TTC) system in line with the Regional/Management Unit guidelines and framework which is based on pay for performance and ensures long-term maximisation of customer contribution and counter performance from customers.
- Ensure development and implementation of innovative and competitive local channel and route-to-market strategies which lead to healthy and sustainable trading terms and at the same time build and strengthen Beiersdorf brands’ position through shopper and customers insights.
Finance and Supply Chain
- Take full accountabilities of Canada´s P&L and ensure healthy financial status of the company in close collaboration with NA Finance Director and team.
- Work in close collaboration with local and NA Supply Chain organisations to ensure maximum leverage of business opportunities and generate efficiencies.
- Monitor the effective and efficient further development of all processes as well as the structure of the unit. Identify organisational changes and measures for improvement of the organisation and initiate adequate measures. Collaborate with local HR to manage all aspects of HR in a professional and compliant way.
- Role model Beiersdorf values and leadership behaviours.
- Guide, motivate and develop teams within the countries.
- Identify and develop local talent within the NA/EUNA cluster.
- Ensure healthy internal talent pools and build short/medium- and long-term succession within the company.
- Own and improve employee engagement within the company.
- Represent Beiersdorf locally to consumers, retailers, media, authorities & local communities with always in alignment with GM of the MU and NA and local legal.
- Ensure compliance with internal/external audit, corporate code of conducts and local statutory and legal requirements.
- Comply with all mandatory training on compliance and ensure this is adhered too in the country by all employees.
- Manage employee relations locally in close cooperation with HR.
- Align policies and practices with MU Management Team, supporting Beiersdorf core values and leadership standards.

Main accountabilities
- Develop short/medium- and long-term competitive business strategies to grow the market aggressively and sustainably.
- Full SOI accountability for a EUR 100 NS business for Nivea, Coppertone, Derma/Healthcare country level targets that align to the larger MU targets including top line and bottom line KPIs.
- Key responsibilities lie in the areas of Country strategy and business planning, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and S&CM, and local corporate governance, team leadership and organisation design in line with our operating model.
- Collaborate with the MU team to optimise MU performance and synergies.
- Report to the General Manager of North America.
- Part of the North American Management Unit senior leadership team.
