POSITION

Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: Immediately, until not later than June 30, 2026

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • appropriate professional preparation in the teaching of Home Economics (a university teaching major, its equivalent, or experience directly related to the teaching position)
  • demonstrated competence in teaching all aspects of a Home Economics Program, using highly successful instructional strategies that engage and motivate students
  • demonstrated understanding of the Foods and Nutrition Curriculum
  • knowledge of, and willingness to practice, all elements of the new reporting order, specifically utilizing proficiency scales and descriptive feedback for assessing and communicating student progress and learning
  • demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services
  • demonstrated ability to recognize, acknowledge, and plan for individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly
  • demonstrated experience and continued commitment to honoring First Peoples Principles of Learning and the Indigenization of curriculum
  • demonstrated ability and energy to use a variety of instructional strategies to teach secondary students
  • demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, classroom management, and collaborative skills
  • demonstrated ability to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach
  • demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both verbally, in writing, and using technology
  • demonstrated commitment to use technology for teaching
  • demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development
  • demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning
