Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Human Rights, the Manager, Rights and Responsibility manages institutional case resolution processes related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), as well as non-academic student conduct. The Manager provides expert, trauma-informed leadership in responding to complaints, investigations, and education on rights and responsibilities within the University. Additionally, the role ensures compliance with institutional policies, provincial legislation, and procedural fairness in all cases Case Resolution/Conflict Management
    Ensure effective investigation and management of complaints related to discrimination, harassment, sexual violence, and non-academic student conduct, ensuring compliance with legislation and university policies Ensure procedural fairness, confidentiality, and trauma-informed approaches Coordinate internal and external investigations and mediations using conflict management practices
Supervision and Case Support
    Advise the preparation of annual operational and service plans, manage budget allocations, and oversee staffing requirements Supervise and provide guidance to the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Support Coordinator Ensure consistent survivor-centered and trauma-informed supports and appropriate and confidential case documentation Prepares annual case and trend reports for the Director and senior leadership
Education and Training/ Events and Initiatives
    Design and facilitate educational workshops and training programs on harassment, sexual violence prevention and response, community member rights and responsibilities, and conflict resolution Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop ongoing educational programs and promote awareness of EDHRO services
Policy Review and Legislative Compliance
    Oversee compliance with relevant legislation and university policies, including developing and submitting reports Advise on policy development and ensure operational procedures align with legislative requirements Oversees development, revision, and interpretation of rights and responsibility policies
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

    A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. A Master’s Degree is considered an asset At least five (5) years of directly related experience In-depth Knowledge of Equity, Diversity, and Human Rights Legislation: knowledge is applied in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., Ontario Human Rights Code) Conflict Resolution, Investigation, and Mediation Skills Case Management expertise Leadership and Management Skills Effective Communication and Interpersonal Skills Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required
