Position Summary
Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Coordinator to support the Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) department.The Coordinator, Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) Administrative Services together with the Workplace Health and Safety team, works to strengthen Northern Health’s culture of safety. Under the direction of the Regional Manager—Health, Safety and Prevention, the incumbent develops Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program materials, supports OHS program implementation, and coordinates program administration, communication, and documentation. Additionally the incumbent coordinates and standardizes the use of health and safety data applications such as WHITE, SafetyTask, WorkSafeBC Inspection Report Database by user testing new data applications and identifying the best way to enter data items such as risk assessments and action plans to help standardize safety system use and improve data retrieval/reports.
The Coordinator works with the partners to develop health and safety reporting solutions and audits reports for accuracy and improvement activities. Furthermore, the Coordinator leads planning activities and recommends and/or develops work procedures and processes to enhance service delivery to customers and gain efficiencies.
Starting salary will be approximately from $57,347 to $71,684 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
- Diploma in Business Administration, Administrative Management or a related discipline;
- Three (3) to five (5) years progressive related work experience in a large, complex unionized environment,
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Graduation from an Occupational Health and Safety certificate or diploma program is an asset.
- Previous experience in Human Resources preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to lead, direct, supervise and develop staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge in implementing new processes and/or procedures and managing change.
- Knowledge of human resource practices.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to deal with others effectively using a customer service approach.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing priorities and demands.
- Ability to analyze and find solutions to issues.
- Ability to anticipate work requirements and organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work successfully within a team environment and build and maintain cross-team relationships.
- Ability to take initiative to develop and improve systems, procedures and processes.
- Ability to type 50 + wpm.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
