About the Position:
The Global Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic growth opportunities across international markets. This role involves building strong relationships with partners, clients, and internal stakeholders to drive revenue, expand market presence, and support long-term business objectives. The successful candidate has a background in mine site operations in multiple locations and mining sectors and mined resources.
Core Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate new international markets, channels and customer segments for business growth.
- Develop and manage relationships with key partners and stakeholders to support global expansion.
- Collaborate with regional sales teams to develop and implement effective go-to-market strategies tailed to specific mine site operations.
- Generate and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities through mine site and metallurgical networking, lead generation and industry events.
- Work closely with business unit client services, business development, finance and legal teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of client contracts and expansion of service offerings.
- Conduct competitive analysis and stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
- Work directly with existing clients to expand the scope of current service offering (both through existing value chain and through other ALS services).
- Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams to ensure seamless communication, timely delivery of services, and prompt resolution of any issues or concerns.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within existing and potential client organizations.
- Provide input and insights to support marketing and promotional initiatives targeted at increasing brand visibility and market share.
- Encourage customer feedback to identify growth business opportunities.
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong understanding of mineral processing and metallurgical processes.
- Familiarity with mine site operations, including lab workflows, sampling procedures, and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of chemical analysis techniques, reagent handling, and equipment used in on-site labs.
- Understanding of proposal writing, cost estimation, and technical sales in the mining industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and technical teams.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and market expansion.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and creative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
- Strong project management and financial acumen.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Multilingual skills are an asset.
- Proven ability to thrive in remote mining environments and adapt to field conditions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, balancing client engagement with technical support.
- Self-motivation and a proactive mindset to identify and pursue business opportunities.
- BSc in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Process Engineering, or related field.
- 5 – 7 years business development or senior client service, or strategic partnerships, preferably in a global context.
- Applied metallurgical experience with a minimum of 5 years in an analytical or metallurgical lab.
- Experience with process optimization and/or capital upgrade projects on mine-sites is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving history.
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
- Ability to stand for up to a full shift;
- Be available to work outside normal business hours when required;
- Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day;
- Ability to communicate via telephone and e-mail without assistance;
- Frequent domestic and international travel will be required (up to 40 %), occasionally on short notice.
- An estimated annual salary ranging from $150,000 – $160,000 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
