One in five people experience a mental health concern. Located at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, the Young Adult Evaluation, Treatment and Reintegration Service (Unit 12A) is a short stay, fast-paced 26-bed acute care psychiatry program for medically stable clients between the ages of 17 and 26. The Social Worker II is a key piece of the Unit 12-A multidisciplinary team and assists acutely unwell young adults with various psychosocial needs. Duties include assessment, education, advocacy, resource finding, consultation and discharge planning for clients and their families. The incumbent will also participate in activities such as program planning, evaluation, quality improvement, research, and staff development. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
One year recent (within past three years) experience in an Addiction and Mental Health role. CPR (BLS-HCP) certification is necessary. The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills while being able to work effectively and efficiently with clients, families, and all members of the health care team. Strong organizational skills as well as excellent time-management and documentation abilities are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with acutely unwell young adults within the Edmonton Zone Mental Health and Addiction framework is preferred. Experience working with concurrent disorders and trauma is preferred. Strata pathways housing experience is preferred.
