About the Opportunity
General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada is looking for full-time Vehicle Technician, Trainer based in London, Ontario, with travel requirements across Canada and abroad.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Training and Technical Documentation in the Customer Support Department, you will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering world-class maintenance training programs that support the operation and sustainment of GDLS-C’s advanced military vehicle platforms.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for designing, developing, and conducting maintenance training for domestic and international customers while ensuring high-quality documentation, technical accuracy, and alignment with GDLS-C product lines and standards.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designing, developing, and updating maintenance training materials and documentation
- Conducting training sessions on GDLS-C chassis and turret systems for customers at military sites across Canada and globally
- Serving as a lead trainer when required by mentoring, advising, and monitoring training staff on-site
- Liaising with internal departments, customers, and external partners to address training requirements and feedback
- Implementing advanced instructional methods and technologies into courseware development
- Acting as the point of contact for GDLS Customer Support Services (CSS) operations and coordinating with Program Managers and Directors while deployed
- Preparing and delivering technical presentations and training-related reports
- Ensuring compliance with company and customer standards for documentation, safety, and performance
- Analyzing and evaluating training effectiveness to ensure materials and delivery meet operational needs
- Maintaining accurate site reports and training package records in alignment with GDLS-C documentation standards
About You
To qualify, you will need a Licensed Truck & Coach or Automotive Inter-Provincial Certification (e.g. 310S, 310T, 421A, or 425A), or a Military Vehicle Technician qualification (minimum QL3/DP2 or equivalent).
Ideally, you will have 3–5 years of experience developing and delivering maintenance training programs within automotive, military, or industrial settings, and preferably 3+ years of experience in the operation, maintenance, or instruction of armoured or complex vehicle systems. While experience or certification in training or instruction within the automotive or military environment is highly desired, we are also open to confident, licensed technicians who demonstrate the capability to combine hands-on mechanical expertise with instructional delivery and customer engagement.
The following are required:
- Eligibility for registration under the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) administered by the Controlled Goods Directorate (CGD)
- Ability to obtain Secret Level II security clearance
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 50% of the role), including work in military environments and extreme conditions
- Valid driver’s licence (and ability to obtain DZ or AZ licence depending on platform support)
- Eligibility to obtain a Canadian Firearms Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence (RPAL)
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Demonstrated proficiency in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for courseware and presentation development
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical information clearly through written materials, presentations, and hands-on instruction, while mentoring and supporting peers or trainees to achieve learning goals
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
- Professionalism and confidence in customer-facing and multicultural environments
- Knowledge of GDLS-C chassis, turret, or armoured vehicle platforms (or similar complex vehicle systems) (asset)
- Understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methods, and training evaluation processes (asset)
- Experience adapting training methods to accommodate learners with varying technical backgrounds (asset)
- Bilingualism in English and French (asset)
- Previous qualification as a CAF military instructor, TRADOC, or equivalent (asset)
