The RIS PACS (Radiology Information Systems Picture Archiving and Communication System) specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the digital systems and processes related to medical imaging within a healthcare organization. This role involves ensuring that all radiological images and related patient information are acquired, stored, retrieved, shared, distributed, and managed efficiently and securely throughout the enterprise, contributing to better patient care, enhanced diagnostics, and streamlined clinical workflow. Reporting to the manager, Enterprise Solutions, the RIS PACS Specialist supports the delivery and efficient operation of digital healthcare tools for imaging users to ensure optimum performance, timely access, accurate data, and accessibility
Rate of Pay: $48.19 per hour - $60.23 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Status: Temporary full-time
Duration: Until January 2027

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a two (2) College Diploma or Certificate in Medical Imaging discipline or Computer Programming/Analysis or equivalent
  • University Degree in Medical Radiation Sciences, other Health Care related discipline, Computer Systems Technology or related field preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years recent, related experience in the PACS, medical or cardiology imaging environment
  • Imaging Informatics Graduate Certificate, Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP designation), and/or Project Management Certificate, preferred
  • Previous working experience with RIS, PACS and imaging applications
  • Advanced knowledge of DICOM, HL7, IHE, HIS/RIS/EHR for system/data integrations and interoperability
  • Must have and maintain a high level of technical expertise within area of responsibility and committed to learning and remain current in the technology
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of medical imaging processes, protocols and procedures and their application to all levels of uses and external departments
  • Understanding of interconnected or integrated 3rd party solutions to and between the EHR, RIS, PACS and the DIR.
  • Knowledge in Office 365 applications and the ability to utilize to streamline documentation, communication, planning, and processes
  • Strong skills in process-centric thinking
  • Able to teach utilizing adult learning principles
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated commitment to the employee performance development competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to provide on-call support
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
