Position Overview
The duties of a Customer Service Person are to provide services to the Company’s customers through the installation of meters and the investigation of customer complaints and inquiries. In discharging their responsibilities, Customer Service Person foster good relations between the Company and its customers.
Customer Service Persons report to staff Supervisors or their delegate.
Responsibilities
- Performs connects and disconnects on single-phase, self-contained types of meters and metering installations only.
- Exchanges self-contained meters for test, re-tests, or repair; performs cleaning, handling, shipping and receiving of meters and metering equipment.
- Uses basic electrical testing, indicating and recording instruments to analyze customer problems; interprets results and informs the Supervisor on the results.
- Directly investigates customer complaints; reports results and suggests solutions to the Supervisor.
- Maintains customer service records and metering installation records.
- Provides training to Meter Readers and other employees in customer service matters.
- Perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee.
Requirements
- General knowledge in electricity, electrical distribution systems, customer metering equipment, installations and facilities.
- Working knowledge and the application of basic electrical testing, measuring, indicating and recording instruments.
- Good knowledge of the Company’s electrical rate structure, rules, regulations and policy.
- Possesses the qualifications for the Meter Reader classification.
