Drive Operational Excellence
- Lead workflow, staffing, and process optimization to ensure smooth, efficient lending operations.
- Continually streamline processes, reduce costs, enhance service quality, and improve cycle times from application to funding.
- Oversee post-review processes and ensure strong quality assurance across all credit files.
- Develop and deliver training programs to strengthen team capability and consistency.
- Ensure underwriting procedures and guidelines remain current and aligned with market trends and regulatory requirements.
- Approve or decline escalated mortgage applications and provide expert guidance on complex files.
- Monitor key risk metrics and provide solutions that protect portfolio quality and enhance business results.
- Identify market trends and recommend updates to policies and guidelines to balance risk and opportunity.
- Chair the Credit Management Credit Committee working group (as well as other corresponding working groups as designated) to strengthen the Bank’s credit risk framework.
- Limit portfolio losses through direct oversight of the Recoveries function and diligent monitoring of delinquency outcomes.
- Build strong partnerships with the National Sales Team, broker networks, and strategic third-party referral partners.
- Represent the Bank at industry events, actively promoting the brand and cultivating market relationships.
- Align customer experience standards within the credit process to meet Brand expectations.
- Provide insights, recommendations, and solutions that support the Bank’s strategic goals.
- Conduct credit analysis using market trends, performance metrics, and regulatory requirements to guide decision-making.
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership as the lending and credit subject matter expert to shape products, processes, and strategic initiatives.
- You have 10+ years' experience at a senior level in residential mortgage underwriting within the banking and/or financial industry. Experience specific to alternative mortgage lending, procedures, and guidelines is an added benefit!
- You have 10+ years’ experience as a senior leader, with a proven track record of coaching teams with a well-developed and collaborative approach.
- You have post-secondary education in business (BCom/MBA). If your degree or experience is in something else, tell us why it makes you a great candidate for this role.
- You have experience managing operations for scale and efficiency.
- Demonstrable competency in developing effective relationships with leaders at all levels of an organization.
- A keen understanding of OSFI Residential Mortgage Underwriting Guidelines and regulatory compliance.
- You’re a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.
