Manager, Credit at Bow Valley Credit Union

As our Manager, Credit, you will lead our Retail Credit Adjudication team and shape the future of lending at BVCU. You'll oversee all credit decisions exceeding branch authority while building team capability and driving credit quality across our retail portfolio. This role offers exciting growth potential, with planned expansion into commercial credit adjudication as our organization evolves.

You'll be the go-to expert for complex credit structures, providing leadership to underwriters while ensuring we maintain strong risk management and deliver exceptional member experiences.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Lead & Develop Your Team

• Manage and mentor the retail credit team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on quality and member service
• Coach underwriters through complex decisions, conduct regular one-on-ones, and build team capability
• Set performance expectations and ensure timely, consistent adjudication across the portfolio

Make Critical Credit Decisions

• Adjudicate retail credit applications above branch authority, including complex and exception-based requests
• Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and structure credit terms that balance member value with appropriate risk mitigation
• Present higher-level applications to Credit Committee and provide expert recommendations

Drive Excellence & Innovation

• Maintain and enhance credit policies, procedures, and underwriting processes
• Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities through data analysis and lead corrective initiatives
• Leverage technology to streamline workflows while maintaining decision quality
• Monitor delinquency trends and recommend proactive intervention strategies

Collaborate & Support

• Act as subject-matter expert, providing guidance to lenders on financial analysis and risk considerations
• Partner with Lending Services, Finance, Compliance, Risk, and branch teams
• Co-develop and deliver training programs to build credit capability across the organization

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Experience & Knowledge

• 6–8 years of progressive credit experience in a financial institution
• Demonstrated expertise in retail credit adjudication and financial analysis
• Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations, security documentation, and credit policy

THE FINE PRINT:

• This position is on-site (minimum part-time in Cochrane’s Administration Office for the right candidate)
• Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
• Must be bondable and have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
