Join our team as a Build Methods Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing and planning the processes, tools, and equipment that bring cutting-edge vessels to life. Responsibilities

  • Engineer smarter builds: Review structural configurations and collaborate with Production Engineers to refine build trees and assembly sequences aligned with our Build Strategy.
  • Create clarity: Prepare Unit Integration documents and craft internal work instructions that guide seamless production.
  • Drive collaboration: Engage with Planning, Production, and stakeholders to socialize build methods and integration strategies.
  • Innovate solutions: Develop alternative build methods and mitigation plans to overcome challenges.
  • Learn and improve: Visit multiple production facilities, monitor activities, and capture lessons learned to enhance future builds.
  • Ensure compliance: Partner with Design Agents to review manufacturing data and maintain alignment with build intent.
  • Support success: Provide expertise across programs as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or Technologist Degree.
  • 4–8 years of experience in ship design, construction, or a complex industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of shipbuilding production, planning, material requirements, and resource capacity.
  • Ability to interpret production drawings, bills of materials, and 3D models; adept at scheduling and meeting deadlines.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
