Job Description

Unit Description:

The Biorepository and Bioanalysis Centre (BBC) is an enabling unit of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CSLA). The CLSA is a national study longitudinal study started in 2011 following Canadians aged 45 – 85 for 20 years. The data collected on this platform will be used to examine aging and improve the health of Canadians. The BBC provides support for all biospecimen related activities including biospecimen collection, processing, shipping, storage, analysis, and monitoring. https://www.clsa-elcv.ca/

Job Summary:
Provide support of a routine nature for research projects in a laboratory environment. Work is performed under the direct supervision and guidance.

Accountabilities:
1. Perform basic, standardized laboratory experiments following established protocols.
2. Record and maintain accurate records of experimental results.
3. Assist in the gathering information for preparation of a variety of presentations or reports.
4. Maintain laboratory facilities and equipment in a safe, clean working order.
5. Seek guidance and direction from Research Staff or Manager.

Qualifications:
Education: Currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program.
Experience: Prior experience not required.

Additional Information:

• Candidate will be working in a biorepository to store and retrieve cryovials from cryofreezers using scanning equipment and a Laboratory Information System.
• Candidate will be working in a biochemical laboratory using an automated system.
