Senior Accountant at Sunbelt Solomon
Trinity Power is a fast paced, rapidly growing organization providing superior power rental equipment for industrial applications. The Senior Accountant will work under the direction of the Business Unit Controller and is responsible for maintaining accuracy and completeness of financial reporting at Trinity Power (US/CA). The Senior Accountant is responsible to provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to the General/Junior accountant.
- Fixed assets Management – personally handling US or CA side of fixed assets and overseeing the schedules and problem resolutions for both countries with the assistance of the General accountant.
- Internal Audit Liaison – Coordinating auditor requests by compiling and delegating between AP, AR, Accounting to gather the information requested, verify it’s complete and accurate and supports the auditors in their controls/substantive testing.
- Perform or oversee Ad-hoc tasks that are periodic in nature and outside of the day-to-day business: WCB reporting & payments, Tracking of income tax installments payout (PST, GST, CRA, IRS, TX Sales Tax, Statistics Canada etc.)
- Perform a horizontal analysis of the company’s income statement and balance sheet to identify trends and changes in a company's performance and verify the origins of said changes. (e.g. reclassing incorrect entries, verifying unusual transactions)
- Update relevant files with monthly results that are used for consolidation/FP&A/Revenue reporting purposes after monthly numbers are finalized.
- Prepare or oversee bank and account reconciliations and required follow up or investigation with General/Junior Accountant
- Assist in preparation of year-end review schedules.
- Provide back up to other accounting positions when necessary (e.g. vacations substitution, training of new employees)
- Payroll Posting & Coordination to ensure costs are accurate and accruals are timely and accurate.
- Use task-management platforms to maintain accountability for both oneself and assigned employees (e.g. Asana)
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting; experience in a Rental accounting, Reconciliations, GL analysis, Financial reporting, General knowledge payables, receivables and payroll is an asset.
- A post-secondary degree in Finance or related combination of education and experience
- CPA Candidacy/Completion is an asset.
- Strong computer literacy and knowledge of Rental or other ERPs is an asset. (e.g. SAP B1)
- Able to work within Microsoft Suite effectively – mostly Excel. SQL knowledge is an asset.
- Superior oral and written communication skills personally & via email.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving to prevent recurring issues.
- Able to make decisions and coordinate work based on established priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to meet and adapt to changing deadlines and priorities (e.g. month end)
- Ability to improve processes while maintaining strong internal controls to make things faster and more automated.
- Ability to take direction and accept responsibility to mentor/assist other employees.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure (e.g. prioritize and execute with goals in mind)
- Experienced in motivating and working collaboratively with stakeholders
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including working beyond regular hours
