About the Role
As the Manager – Consultation & Engagement for the Mount Nansen Remediation Project, you will be responsible to provide leadership, management, and execution of project-specific Indigenous Engagement and local communities’ strategies. This role will act as a bridge between Mount Nansen Remediation Limited Partnership (MNRLP) and Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation (LSCFN) and other affected First Nations and provide senior review and strategy for all engagement and regulatory consultation activities related to the Mount Nansen Remediation Project

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and lead Indigenous and community consultation and engagement activities to support MNRLP with operations, permitting and assessment initiatives.
  • Actively manage relationships with Indigenous groups/governments and communities with a focus on building trust and fostering transparent, two-way communication between MNRLP and LSCFN and other affected First Nations.
  • Foster and promote partnership opportunities to build capacity with Indigenous groups on employment and training programs related to the Mount Nansen Remediation Project.
  • Develop and implement consultation and engagement plans for Indigenous groups/governments, communities, and non-Indigenous governments ensuring alignment with Mount Nansen project objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Tracking and analyzing Indigenous and stakeholder feedback, coordinating responses, reports, summaries, and mitigation strategies ensuring that community values and traditional knowledge are integrated into project reports and regulatory submissions.
  • Creating, managing and delivering in person and virtual content for various communications and engagement initiatives, including newsletters, community presentations, website posts, reports, and summary documents.
  • Interface, engage and consult with various levels of government, Indigenous groups/governments, stakeholders and communities.
  • Represent Ensero and our clients in regulatory and community meetings, workshops and events and oversee the preparation of presentation materials.
  • Manage the development of comprehensive consultation and engagement records to comply with respective regulatory process(es) including Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) requirements and other project-specific obligations.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous groups to advance and incorporate traditional knowledge into regulatory submissions ensuring culturally appropriate engagement approaches and supporting community participation in project meetings, workshops and site visits.
  • Conduct senior reviews of deliverables and programs in area(s) of expertise.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and professional development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Build team capabilities (recruitment, development, retention, etc.) and manage staff performance including goal setting, defining responsibilities, and determining priorities.
  • Interface and communicate with other managers on scheduling and resource requirements.
  • All other related duties as required.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of previous experience in Indigenous and community engagement and consultation, with preference given to candidates with Yukon experience.
  • Experience in building relationships and engaging with Indigenous groups and all levels of Government.
  • Experience in leading or being part of a team that lead consultation and engagement for a major capital project.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Yukon’s and BC’s (and other jurisdictions) impact assessment and licensing regime for resource development projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members as well as lead multi-disciplinary projects
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other business software
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels
