We are hiring for this position out of our Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

Role Overview

The Manager in Business risk is a highly skilled and results-driven Risk Management professional with extensive experience in implementing risk management policies, procedures, and training programs. Demonstrates a proven track record in identifying and evaluating risks, developing and executing mitigation strategies, and enhancing stakeholder satisfaction. Possesses strong expertise in risk analysis, compliance monitoring and remediation, and excels at fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational risk management objectives.

About The Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of risk or compliance experience within the financial services industry within the first or 2nd line of defense. Preference will be given to those with Payment cards and or lending experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as finance, business, or risk management.
  • Proven experience and highly skilled at analyzing, interpreting regulations and implementing general policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment techniques and tools, such as risk mapping and scenario analysis.
  • Prior experience in reviewing processes, control testing, results analysis and report writing.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training.
  • Strong knowledge of the risk and regulatory landscape within Financial Institutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of either card, payments and or Lending products.

About The Day-to-Day

  • Assist the IN-Business group to drive and execute an end-to-end strategy fostering risk awareness and risk culture in the First Line of Defense (1LOD) and be responsible to drive and execute an end-to-end strategy fostering risk awareness and risk culture in the First Line of Defense (1LOD).
  • Coordinates and facilitates risk management activities such as Risk Controls Self Assessments, Regulatory compliance management, New Initiatives risk management, in collaboration with business unit leaders.
  • Assist in the development of 1LOD standard operating procedures.
  • Works with the business to proactively identify and assess operational risks across the Business units using a range of risk assessment techniques and tools. Collaborate with business units and departments to develop and implement risk treatment plans.
  • Design Test Plans and perform controls testing of 1LOD adherence to enterprise-level requirements and business unit specific operating procedures.
  • Work with the business owners when there are weaknesses identified through testing to ensure they develop appropriate action plans and implement them in a timely manner.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of business unit specific training to ensure all business owners can effectively carry out all risk management and compliance activities.
  • Assist the Business with compliance related activities and remediation.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance oversight partners and respond to queries, attestations etc. on behalf of Management.

About The Work Environment

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Compensation

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $100,000 and $105,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
