Schedule: 40 hours weekly; Monday to Friday 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM (Alt shifts between 5:30am to 3:30pm)

This is supervisory, operational and technical work performed in a multi-use recreation facility including an arena. The work involves supervising and participating in the work of subordinates engaged in equipment maintenance, janitorial, security, refrigeration and ice making tasks; performing a variety of operational, routine maintenance and minor repair tasks; coordinating and scheduling the provision of equipment maintenance and janitorial service; establishing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs; monitoring expenditures and advising a supervisor of potential cost over-runs; and preparing purchase requisitions within defined limits. An incumbent also assists in the coordination and facilitation of building maintenance activities and building maintenance programs. Working under minimal supervision, an incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action in the planning of day-to-day maintenance operations of the facility. Work performance is reviewed by a supervisor in terms of effectiveness and efficiency of services provided and attainment of desired results. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation supplemented by completion of technical courses in ice making and refrigeration, plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in ice making and refrigeration operations and functions and operations of a multi-use facility including stationary, fixed, and mobile equipment. Ability to coordinate and schedule the provision of equipment maintenance and janitorial services, and ice making work and to establish and maintain preventative maintenance programmes; monitor expenditures and to advise supervisor of potential cost over-runs, and recommend corrective action as required. Ability to prepare purchase requisitions for janitorial and equipment supplies and other facility equipment and parts within defined limits and to maintain an inventory of same; prepare and maintain records and correspondence related to the work. Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools used in the work. A valid Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia, Designated St. John's First-Aid Certificate or equivalent, and Refrigeration Operator’s Certificate are required.
