THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a large, well-established Canadian organization to recruit a Senior Manager, Canadian Tax on an 18-month maternity leave contract. This is a senior level, hands-on role within a highly acquisitive, multi-entity environment, offering exposure to complex Canadian tax matters, acquisition activity, and close collaboration with senior finance leadership.

Reporting to the Director of Tax, the Senior Manager, Canadian Tax will play a key role overseeing Canadian tax compliance, financial reporting, and planning, while supporting transaction-related activity and providing tax leadership across the organization.

This role is ideal for a senior tax professional open to a high-impact contract where they can step into an established tax function and make an immediate contribution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Canadian corporate income tax compliance across a large, multi-entity organization, ensuring timely and accurate federal and provincial filings.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual current and deferred tax provisions under IFRS, working closely with corporate and operating entity finance teams.
  • Act as a primary contact for CRA and provincial tax authorities, including managing audits, reviews, and related correspondence.
  • Provide Canadian tax support for acquisitions, integrations, and corporate restructurings, including tax onboarding of newly acquired entities.
  • Partner with senior finance leadership and operating entities to deliver practical, business-focused tax guidance.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective advice.
  • Identify and assess tax planning opportunities, risks, and exposures, and support implementation of appropriate strategies.
  • Review income tax-related balance sheet reconciliations and support internal and external audit processes.
  • Monitor changes in Canadian tax legislation and assess the impact on the organization.
  • Contribute to tax process improvements, special projects, and provide technical oversight and mentorship within the tax team.

Skills & Experience

  • CPA designation required and In-Depth would be an asset
  • Strong Canadian corporate tax experience in a complex, multi-entity environment
  • Solid IFRS tax provision experience
  • Exposure to M&A and transaction support
  • Ability to operate hands-on in a fast-paced, collaborative setting
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
