Job Details

The Senior Manager, Facility Maintenance is responsible for the day-to-day reliability, maintenance, and repair of all YHM facilities.  Critical support systems serving a combined aircraft maintenance hangar, ULD shop, GSE shop, and cargo sort operation. This role ensures uninterrupted operations by maintaining hangars, sort buildings, warehouses, and office areas, with a strong focus on preventive maintenance, backup systems, emergency response, and rapid issue resolution.

The position leads facility maintenance teams and contractors, ensures regulatory and safety / security compliance, and maintains readiness of all infrastructure required to support 24/7 aircraft maintenance and cargo operations.

Job Duties

  • Lead a team responsible for routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of the company’s facilities at YHM.
  • Oversee and maintain systems, including backup generators, HVAC, emergency lighting, and water supply systems, ensuring uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for critical building infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, workplace health standards, and operational best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead incident investigations or audits related facility operations.
  • Act as a point of contact during irregular operations or emergencies to support operational continuity.
  • Track and report weekly the repairs completed while escalating repetitive and priority items.
  • Develop and report out weekly cost impacts to facility damages and safety related incidents.
  • Support and maintain the emergency response plans, including fire prevention, hazardous materials handling, and evacuation procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Responsible for your training and the training of the direct reports, ensuring employees remain current with all technical and regulatory training requirements to function in their assigned role.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) and safety / security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure a clean and safe workplace for team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in aircraft ground services, facility maintenance management, and safety oversight, preferably in an aviation environment.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulatory requirements (Transport Canada, IATA, IOSA, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and operational reporting tools.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to operational improvements.
  • Expertise with HVAC, electrical systems, building automation, and emergency backup systems an asset.

Education/Specific Training

  • Post-secondary education or certificate in Facilities / Property Management, Aviation Management, Airport Operations, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Training in occupational health & safety or emergency response is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in facility maintenance, industrial maintenance, or infrastructure support, including leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems; HVAC, electrical, mechanical, fire protection and security systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain an airside pass.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
