Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Manager, International Recruitment enables realization of international enrolment targets through marketing and recruitment activities such as the identification of key markets, implementing promotional campaigns, building an assigned region agent network, delivering presentations while attending recruitment events at national and international locations, and promoting DC in the global marketplace. The incumbent will be strategic, adapting to real-time changes, with the focus on generating high quality student applications from diverse, targeted countries and supporting applications though the recruitment lifecycle. The incumbent monitors program seat needs for international students and aids in the allocation of applications spots to support the Enrolment Management Plan. The incumbent will represent the International Education Office through participation in events held by international organizations, and agencies and at conferences to drive global growth and revenue generation by actively developing strategies, in concert with internal DC stakeholders. A sample of duties is included below:

Market Analysis

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for market analysis, and global research that supports the objectives of the International Education office.
  • Maintains and analyses data to support strategic enrolment management and forecasting activities to inform in-year international recruitment interventions.
  • Contributes to the development of the Strategic International Recruitment Plan, recommending and defining strategies and tactics to shape region specific recruitment campaigns and processes to improve application and conversion numbers for international student students for the assigned region(s).


International Student Recruitment

  • Execute objectives from the strategic international recruitment plan to fulfil college-wide enrolment targets.
  • Promotes college programs to a global prospective audience (agents and students) through virtual and in-person engagement, in Canada and abroad.
  • Contributes to the development, stewardship and maintenance a worldwide representative (agent) networks, including initiation of new agreements, annual monitoring of agent performance, provision of training and marketing support, as required.
  • Supports with the distribution of institution-wide market materials to the international market.
  • Identifies the appropriate student recruitment fairs and recruitment activities, nationally and internationally to promote DC and recruit international students.
  • Develops and facilitates information sessions for prospective students to support conversion.
  • Responsible for the incoming international student component of the I&GE Plan and, in consultation with the Manager of International Recruitment and the Dean, International Education, will set targets and define and implement strategies to achieve these targets


Operational Management

  • Monitors budgets to identify anomalies and opportunities for in-year and future budgets.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of strategies to meet / exceed service targets.
  • Participates in development of the department’s Multi-Year Plan.
  • Provides support to the IE team with general duties in relation to orientation support, conversion support, office coverage support, on-line information sessions support and student engagement, including in-person college tours.


Global Growth

  • Identify, capture and cultivate new leads / opportunities to increase enrolment, and grow revenue through education, training and capability building services.


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a 4-year degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, International Relations, or Administration
  • At least 3-years of experience in international student recruitment, with a demonstrated ability to meet substantial enrolment targets.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and knowledge of best practices and technology in an international education setting.
  • Advanced understanding of international recruitment tactics and proven strategic planning capabilities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, and legislative processes, and common issues that affect international student immigration status in Canada.
  • Enhanced knowledge and understanding of global structures, political dynamics, economic and cultural norms, customs and religious restrictions; as well as climatic and infrastructure hurdles inherent internationally. Exceptionally strong pragmatic and analytical skills to deal with hurdles, craft practical solutions to capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and public speaking
  • Well-developed analytical skills
  • Advanced computer competencies including proficiency in MS Office suite, global on-line platforms, report writing and generation, and multiplatform presentation tools
  • Advance skills in the use of virtual technology and online recruitment platforms such as MS Teams, WhatsApp, Zoom, Vibrela, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify market opportunities and optimize recruitment practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Fluency in a language other than English (e.g. Spanish) is an asset.
  • Proven ability to navigate and manage issues related to social, cultural, political and economic diversity. Advanced intercultural competency is essential.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all matters related to students, staffing and programming.
