Early Primary Teacher at School District #71 (Comox Valley)

We invite applications for the temporary position of:
- 1.0 FTE Indigenous Early Primary Teacher
- Indigenous Ancestry is required
The successful candidate will demonstrate education, training, and/or experience in the following areas:
- Incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing and being in the classroom community
- Create meaningful, authentic relationships with students and families
- Targeted literacy instruction for a variety of learners (RTI model)
- Classroom management and understanding how the nervous system influences behavior
- Land-based learning that connects to decolonizing and indigenizing
- Meaningful inclusive education practices that honours each individual child
- Collaboration skills and ability to work as a team
- Pedagogy of Play
- Embedding the core competencies in everyday learning
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A collaborative team approach in teaching and planning
- Inclusive practices that support the wide range of learning needs within the classroom
- Skill in setting classroom routines and expectations that provide student independence in both their engagement and management
