Payroll Analyst
Permanent Full-Time
Position Summary
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, legislative requirements, and reporting obligations. This role works collaboratively with Payroll, Human Resources, and Finance to maintain payroll integrity, perform analysis and reconciliations, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills Required
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation is considered an asset.
- Member of the National Payroll Institute (NPI) in good standing preferred.
- Postsecondary education in accounting or a related field, preferably at the college level
- 1-3 years working in a payroll or accounting.
- Working knowledge of Avanti is an asset
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to accurately handle high volume of transactions, meet deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to always display professional conduct
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Sensitivity to the unique ethnic and faith community
Key Responsibilities
- Process and reconcile payroll accurately and within established timelines.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and support month-end and year-end financial processes.
- Assist with payroll budget preparation, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Conduct variance analysis and investigate discrepancies related to payroll and benefits.
- Prepare and maintain payroll reports, including ministry and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance departments to ensure accurate employee and financial records.
- Perform payroll entry audits and review payroll transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct audits and reviews within the Avanti payroll system to ensure data integrity and process accuracy.
- Create, update, and improve payroll processes and procedures.
- Always maintain confidentiality of employees and organizational information.
- Support compliance with payroll legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
