The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $83,000 per annum. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
Your Role
- Planning, conducting, and supervising geotechnical investigations.
- Evaluating geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures.
- Conducting foundation investigations for commercial, industrial, and high-rise developments.
- Assisting with shallow and deep foundation design.
- Assisting with geohazard and seismic assessments.
- Assisting with dam safety reviews.
- Assisting with slope stability and embankment assessments and mitigation designs.
- Analyzing field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and recommendations.
- Preparing proposals, budgeting, and scheduling of projects.
- Communicating with clients and sub-consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Working in a safe manner at all times and reporting all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of an Undergraduate degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a geotechnical engineering capacity is preferred.
- Experience in a consulting engineering environment is considered an asset.
- Some experience establishing and maintaining client relationships is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in site reconnaissance and exploration for site characterization programs would be preferred.
- Experience writing internal and external reports and proposals would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience using MS Office, AutoCAD, QGIS, and geotechnical software suites (e.g. Rocscience, GeoStudio, Plaxis) is preferred.
- Experience with Python or other coding language and/or numerical modeling software would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player.
- Travel may be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments, in the Interior of British Columbia and also within western Canada.
- Must be physically capable of performing the manual field duties required.
- Must be or eligible to register as a professional engineer in British Columbia and possess a valid British Columbia Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
