The Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary, faith-filled, and collaborative leader to join the Living Waters Catholic Separate School Division in Slave Lake as Principal of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy. As the educational and spiritual leader of our Junior/Senior High School, you will champion an environment of academic excellence, mentorship and 21st-century instructional practices.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy is dedicated to fostering a vibrant Christ-centered learning environment for students in Grades 7 through 12. Located in the beautiful, welcoming lakeside community of Slave Lake, the school is a hub of quality teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities

  • Faith Leadership: Guide and nurture the Catholic identity of the school, integrating Gospel values into daily school life, celebrations, and staff development.

  • Instructional Excellence: Foster a culture of high-quality teaching and learning, supporting staff with professional development and data-informed practices.

    Collaborative Culture: Cultivate a strong Professional Learning Community (PLC) where collaborative teamwork drives student success and staff well-being.

  • Community Engagement: Build strong, transparent relationships with parents, the local parish, and the broader Slave Lake community.

  • School Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations, budgeting, and strategic planning of a Junior/Senior high school environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for one).

  • A Master’s Degree in Education, Leadership, or a related field (completed or in progress) is preferred.

  • Leadership Certification in Alberta (LQS) or readiness to obtain it.

  • A practicing Catholic with a deep commitment to Catholic education.

  • Demonstrated experience in secondary school leadership, with a strong understanding of junior/senior high programming.

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
