Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager of ISSofBC and Manager of Maple Ridge WorkBC provides case management services support clients in identifying employment goals, addressing barriers, and developing individualized action plans. This position works closely with clients to assess needs, provide employment readiness support, connect them with appropriate resources and referrals, and monitor progress toward successful employment and retention.

The ISSofBC position will be working as part of a multi-agency team within the WorkBC Maple Ridge Catchment operated by Douglas College to provide client-centered case management to support job seekers in identifying goals, addressing barriers, accessing training opportunities, and connecting with appropriate wraparound supports to move toward sustainable employment.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Provides career planning and job search assistance, including developing job search-related documents such as e-portfolios and portfolios.
  • Facilitates the development of a realistic action plan, resumes and other tools for the employment and/or further training of the client based on identified skills/interests, key work experience, and labor market needs, and secures client commitment to, and support for the action plan.
  • Provides case management services to assess clients’ needs, strengths, barriers, and employment goals. Develops individualized action plans, provides job search support, referrals, and follow-up, and ensures services are delivered in line with program requirements and client-centered practices.
  • Maintains regular client follow-up, monitors progress, updates case notes, provides referrals to appropriate services, and supports clients in job search, retention, and employment-related needs.
  • Conducts service eligibility and needs assessment.
  • Participate in all client recruitment and screening and program marketing activities. Provides program information to training service providers and referring agencies as requested.
  • Provides referrals to skills upgrading services, and job search training and assistance.
  • Coordinates enrolment and payment for external services.
  • Monitors the progress of clients towards achieving their employment and/or training goals and provides ongoing support until the client’s action plan is completed. Provides follow-up services for clients deemed to be self-sufficient.
  • Conducts regular outreach to resource persons, community agencies, and institutions to recruit new participants into the program.
  • Performs other related duties as required

What You Bring

  • Certificate or diploma in vocational counselling; Certificate in Essential Skills; or Job Finding Club facilitation supplemented by a minimum of 6 months’ employment counselling experience including facilitating workshops and small groups OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of portfolios including e-portfolios.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral English.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and small groups.
  • Knowledge of local labour market issues, especially those related to ESL immigrant clients.
  • Possession of and the ability to maintain a clear provincial Criminal Record Check

ISSofBC Value Proposition

  • Hiring Salary: $27.26-38.20 per hour.
