Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

A Community Development Coordinator inspires, encourages, facilitates and empowers the community to provide activities that improve the quality of life and vibrancy of Kelowna.

Duties - Union

Collaborate with individuals, community based organizations, registered societies, networks, coalitions and informal groups to:

  • Build community engagement at the community level (strengthen social capital)
  • Support the development and delivery of programs, services and events that enhance community life
  • Increase the community’s capacity to engage, initiate and support activities and events that improve the quality of life and vibrancy of the community.
  • Coordinate community grant programs.
  • Respond to telephone and in-person public enquiries and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of communications and resource materials to support initiatives and activities.
  • Conduct community presentations.
  • Research and analyze data/information related to community needs, trends and opportunities.
  • Design, manage and evaluate initiatives, programs and projects.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence and maintain a wide variety of manual and computerized departmental records and file systems.
  • Process financial documents and monitor budgets.
