Job Responsibilities
- Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Cosma and P&F rules and regulations;
- Contribute to employee suggestion program, continuous improvement and cost reduction activities;
- Keep up to date knowledge and application of P&F’s IATF/ISO procedures and related work guidance, instructions and forms;
- Has right and obligation to be informed about all changes and trends affecting his/her daily duties, assigned processes and overall performance through employee meetings, departmental meetings, daily check-in meetings, shift log book, quality alert log, ECN log etc;
- Applies knowledge of applicable spot, MIG and projection welding standards and customer specifications as applied to the parts in production, including corresponding internal standards, road
- Maps, visual acceptance criteria, accept/reject criteria per measurement results.
- Collect samples, perform destructive test of spot welds on subassemblies and assemblies using designated equipment, fixtures and methods, per frequencies specified in control plans and control cards, measure size of the nuggets and record findings, makes pass/reject disposition. Continuously searching and providing feedback for improvements of existing test/destruct methods to be performed a safer, more effective way and with less physical effort.
- Perform sample preparation (plasma cutting, etching, polishing) and measurement (using microscope) for MIG weld penetration testing, data and file recording, per specified frequencies in control plan and control cards, makes pass/reject disposition
- Perform push-out, torque and other performance testing for assigned processes, makes pass/reject disposition
- Rotate duties with assigned members in the department in order to effectively provide relief in cases of departmental absences.
- Immediately report to production and designated QA inspector any discrepancy or opportunities for impotents found during testing even when testing meets customer standards, support welding technicians and QA to promote product quality
- Participate in containment and sort/rework activities for assigned issues not related to the weld destruct testing
- Participate in Containment inspection (GP-12, FPSC etc) for assigned processes;
- Applies knowledge of acceptable repair procedures and acceptance criteria for weld repair for every current product/customer per their and internal specifications.
- Consistently use CMS system for reporting containment, scrap from destructive testing, scrap and effort from sort/rework activities;
- Operate basic measuring and testing equipment (micrometer, vernier, digital indicator, protractor, etc) including specific checking and testing fixtures;
- Participate in calibration of assigned gages using Gage Track, coordinate or participate in GR&R and other PPAP related activities;
- Ensure only controlled documents are used, completed documents and records are filed & readily available, participate is QA departmental archiving activities
- Basic SPC knowledge used to monitor in/out of control condition;
- Advanced: cross trained to perform Receiving Inspection or F/O, I/P, L/O as a backup inspector for assigned processes.
