Student Research Assistant - School of Climate Change and Adaptation - Faculty of Science at University of Prince Edward Island

The School of Climate Change and Adaptation is seeking one Student Research Assistant to assist with a grant-funded research project on Sustainable AI.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with implementing and evaluating machine learning algorithms for transformer model compression and Sustainable AI
• Conduct computational experiments using Python and PyTorch on benchmark natural language processing tasks
• Analyze experimental results, generate figures and tables, and help prepare technical reports and research manuscripts
• Perform literature reviews on transformer pruning, model compression, and related machine learning topics
• Contribute to maintaining well-documented, reproducible research code using Git

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a current UPEI student
• Upper-level undergraduate student in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Familiarity with machine learning fundamentals and deep learning concepts
• Experience with Linux, Git, and scientific computing tools is desirable
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment
• Previous academic research experience is desirable
