The Strategic Supports Coach: Specialized Programming is a division-based teacher leader who provides collaborative, job-embedded support to school teams in developing and implementing effective programming for students with complex learning needs. Working in partnership with administrators, teachers, educational assistants, and central office staff, the coach will build capacity to ensure students receive high-quality, inclusive, and responsive educational programming.

The coach will provide leadership and support for classroom teachers and specialized programming, with a particular focus on learning support facilitators, LEAP classrooms, and the effective utilization of Educational Assistants. Through coaching, modelling, collaborative planning, and professional learning, the coach will support school teams in implementing evidence-informed instructional and behavioural practices that promote student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional coaching and programming support to classroom teachers
  • Support Educational Assistants through coaching, mentoring, and professional learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and learning support teams to strengthen specialized programming.
  • Model evidence-based instructional, behavioural, and inclusive practices.
  • Assist schools in developing individualized and responsive programming for students with complex needs.
  • Facilitate professional learning related to specialized programming and inclusive education.
  • Support implementation of division priorities related to student success and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community partners when appropriate.
  • Travel regularly to schools throughout the division.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Successful teaching experience supporting students with diverse and complex learning needs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in specialized programming and inclusive education.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience facilitating professional learning is an asset.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and support staff through coaching

Compensation will be in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
