Startec Corporate Services is currently searching for a IT System & Application Support Specialist to work at our Shepard office location ( 9423 Shepard Road SE. Calgary, Alberta T2C 4R6). The IT System & Application Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting employees, maintaining systems, and learning and supporting a wide range of line-of-business applications. This position offers hands-on exposure to critical business platforms, making it a strong foundation for future growth in systems, applications, or cybersecurity.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

TECHNICAL END-USER SUPPORT (Weighting 50%)

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 support tickets quickly and accurately through in-person and remote channels
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365 apps and Windows OS-related inquiries
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by maintaining a positive and responsive support experience
  • Deliver IT Onboarding to new employees

SYSTEM & APPLICATION ADMINISTRATION (Weighting: 30%)

  • Monitor, maintain, and support Windows-based systems, Microsoft 365 suite, and core infrastructure services
  • Manage user accounts and permissions via Active Directory
  • Continuously build knowledge of both business processes, integrations, and data flows
  • Assist in IT system upgrades, patching, and rollout of new applications
  • Develop a strong understanding of all core line-of-business applications across the organization
  • Participate in On-Call Rotation

DOCUMENTATION, IT INVENTORY & ASSET MANAGEMENT (Weighting: 10%)

  • Maintain up-to-date records of IT hardware, software licenses, and assets
  • Support audits and ensure accuracy of equipment and system configurations
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and user guides

SECURITY & RISK MITIGATION SUPPORT (Weighting: 10%)

  • Monitor and flag potential security vulnerabilities based on current tools and advisories
  • Enforce IT security best practices across user activities and systems
  • Support endpoint protection and assist in IT risk mitigation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Information Technology or related field, and/or 3+ years of technical customer service experience in a mid-size environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with curiosity to dig into how systems actually work
  • Profound working knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory
  • Familiarity with networking principles and basic server administration
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of professionalism, accountability, and a proactive attitude
