    How you ’ ll make an impact

    Lead FCC’s government relations strategy across Western Canada, advancing strategic priorities and strengthening relationships with federal, provincial, territorial, Indigenous and industry stakeholders. As a trusted strategic advisor, you’ll provide senior executives with insight on public policy, political dynamics, parliamentary affairs and reputational risks that may affect FCC’s mandate, operations and licence to operate .

    In this role, you’ll shape proactive engagement strategies, strengthen FCC's external influence and support executive engagement with key decision-makers, and act as a strategic connector between FCC business lines and government stakeholders to ensure FCC remains aligned with evolving public policy priorities and external expectations.

    What you’ll do

    • Lead the development and implementation of government relations strategies aligned with FCC priorities

    • Build and sustain strategic relationships with federal, provincial, territorial, Indigenous and industry stakeholders

    • Advise senior executives on political, public policy, parliamentary and stakeholder issues

    • Anticipate emerging legislative, regulatory and parliamentary developments that could impact FCC

    • Lead government relations support for parliamentary affairs, ministerial requests and committee activities

    • Lead the development of executive briefings, presentations and strategic advice materials

    • Represent FCC in meetings, consultations and stakeholder forums

    • Collaborate with internal teams to align engagement activities, government-facing materials and external messaging

    • Identify opportunities to advance FCC’s public policy objectives and strengthen relationships across government and industry

    • Provide functional leadership within the Government Relations team, fostering collaboration, strategic thinking and continuous improvement

    What you’ll bring to the team

    Required qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, communications, business administration, law or a related discipline

    • A minimum of 10 years of progressively senior experience in government relations, public policy, parliamentary affairs, stakeholder relations or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

    • Extensive knowledge of government, parliamentary, legislative and public policy processes

    • Strong understanding of the political, regulatory and stakeholder environment affecting the agriculture and agri-food sector

    • Demonstrated experience providing strategic advice to senior executives on complex, sensitive or high-profile issues

    • Demonstrated ability to lead complex government relations strategies across multiple jurisdictions and stakeholder groups

    • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior government officials and external stakeholders

    Preferred qualifications

    • Experience leading enterprise government relations strategies or stakeholder engagement plans

    • Experience influencing public policy development or legislative initiatives

    • Experience preparing executive briefings, presentations and strategic materials

    • Experience supporting parliamentary affairs, ministerial requests or committee-related activities

    • Experience advising senior leaders on sensitive, complex or high-profile public policy issues

    • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving multiple business lines

    • Experience working within or alongside Crown corporations, financial institutions or the agriculture and agri-food sector
