Responsibilities

Hexagon’s Asset Lifecycle Intelligence division (Hexagon) has an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager in our Calgary, Canada head office. This will be a hybrid role working one or two days each week in the Calgary office. Reporting to the Controller, you will be leading a team of three (3) accounting professionals and have primary responsibility for the operational accounting including financial close, intercompany, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and tax functions. Your strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills will guide your team to meet tight deadlines while adapting to any challenges or changes that are presented. As a Manager of the Accounting team, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the operational accounting functions for the Canadian Asset Lifecycle Division
  • Providing clear visions, goals, and priorities to the team.
  • Setting expectations of roles and responsibilities.
  • Identifying and communicating best practices
  • Coaching, motivating and retaining staff while managing team performance
  • Assisting team members to solve problems from daily accounting to month-end closes
  • Providing sales commission data and supporting the commission payout process
  • Reviewing and approving monthly general ledger reconciliations
  • Preparing annual corporate income tax returns and supporting internal and external audits
  • Initiating continuous process improvement
  • Leading ad hoc team projects

Education / Qualifications

  • Professional Accounting Designation or Post-Secondary Business or Finance Degree
  • 6 years of finance and accounting experience in financial accounting, tax, audit and Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a medium-sized organization ($25M-$75M)
  • Good understanding of financial systems, processes, internal controls, and a working knowledge of IFRS
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Be precise, detail oriented and committed to meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and work well in cross-functional teams
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills who can collaborate effectively with others
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to adapt and respond positively to changing priorities
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics or a similar ERP accounting system
  • Possess a professional and enthusiastic attitude
