We’re Raise, and we’ve joined forces with our client Accerta Services Inc., who are looking to hire a full-time, permanent Product Owner.

They are a B Corp certified social enterprise enabling healthcare equality for all. As a social enterprise, they manage dental, vision, drug, and healthcare benefits programs exclusively for government and social services agencies in Canada. Their targeted experience and innovative technology provide cost savings, reliable service, process continuity, and accurate, insightful data that enables governments to make informed strategic decisions, reducing stress on the healthcare system through streamlined administration.

As the new Product Owner – Application and System, you’ll be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and optimization of critical business applications and systems within the AccessOAP program. The Product Owner serves as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring that the applications and systems deliver optimal value, meet business needs, and align with the overall program strategy. This role involves close collaboration with development teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to drive product success through the entire development life cycle.

Accountabilities

Product Vision & Roadmap:

  • Define, communicate, and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap for business applications and systems within the program
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and ensure alignment with program objectives
  • Continuously refine the product vision based on evolving business requirements and market trends

Backlog Prioritization

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring the development team is focused on the highest value features and tasks
  • Develop user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring that requirements are well-defined, clear, and actionable
  • Balance technical feasibility, business value, and user needs to make informed decisions on backlog prioritization

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, development teams, and program management
  • Facilitate regular communication with stakeholders to provide updates, manage expectations, and gather feedback
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business objectives into technical requirements and actionable tasks

Development & Delivery Oversight

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of application and system enhancements
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to provide guidance and clarity on product priorities
  • Ensure the product meets the defined quality and functionality standards through regular testing, validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT)

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor the performance and usage of the applications and systems post-launch, analyzing metrics and user feedback to drive improvements
  • Proactively identify opportunities for enhancements, optimizations, and innovation in the product lifecycle
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously evolve the product

Details

This is a full-time, permanent position offering a hybrid work model that blends remote work with planned in-office days. You will be required to visit the Toronto at least once a week. Schedules will be determined in partnership between individuals, managers, and the team. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $120,000 to $125,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package and a Defined Benefit Pension Plan starting from your first day. Other perks include vacation time, a performance-based bonus, and a one-time home office allowance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field
  • Agile or Product Owner certification is a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in managing applications or systems
  • Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC), application design, and system integration
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments is required
  • Strong knowledge of business applications and IT systems, including their architecture, integration, and lifecycle management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
  • Familiarity with Agile project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Trello
  • Experience in user story creation, acceptance criteria definition, and backlog management
  • Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong decision-making abilities and a commitment to driving results
  • Adaptable and able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • A passion for continuous learning and improving processes and systems
