Your Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity in our program for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Alberta Kidney Care – North program. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the LPN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Decisions are made in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The LPN provides patient and family centered care to acute and chronic renal failure patient populations. The LPN will practice within the guidelines and philosophy of the AKC. You will be encouraged and be expected to work at your full scope of practice and provide a variety of nursing duties in accordance with current policies and nursing care standards. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within this unit or program expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Recovery Alberta: N Classification: LPN - Renal Dialysis Union: AUPE AUX Unit and Program: Lloydminster Hemodialysis - Alberta Kidney Care North Primary Location: Lloydminster Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.55 Posting End Date: 08-NOV-2024 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 18-NOV-2024 Hours per Shift: 11.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 6 Shifts per cycle: 11 Shift Pattern: Days, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $27.89 Maximum Salary: $36.48 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Effective time management and organizational skills. Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Must have Physical Assessment, IV Therapy and Medication Administration course. Must be able to lift 40lbs (18kg). Proof of successful completion of the CLPNA Administering Blood or Blood Products module is required if you were a graduate prior to June 2022. Basic computer skills required. The AKC –N program requires candidates to pass Hemodialysis Training. Candidates with previous experience will be required to complete Hemodialysis Training as per Manager/Educators discretion. Hemodialysis Training is held in Edmonton or Red Deer depending on classroom/instructor availability. Training is an intensive 4-week full-time schedule with an additional 2 weeks of full-time buddy shifts. A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to 2 weeks full time buddy shifts. Upon successful completion of the orientation the LPN will be able to proceed to the unit specific orientation – 2 weeks of buddy shifts as assigned by the Unit Manager. Required to attend 1-day mandatory post orientation (3 Months Post) in person for Edmonton zone employees and via zoom for outside of the Edmonton Zone employees. Advanced Practice Standards 3-10 & 16-17 required (found in Competency Profile for LPNs – 5th Edition on CLPNA website). Alberta and Saskatchewan nursing licenses required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 years recent Adult Acute Care experience. Recent acute and chronic hemodialysis and/or nephrology nursing experience.
