Reporting to ERA’s Continuous Intake Lead, this role will also work closely with ERA’s Technology Investment Lead, the technology & innovation team, GHG quantification team, external collaborators, and others to coordinate and support the delivery of ERA’s funding programs and other technology and innovation activities. This role will be directly involved with demonstration of innovative technology that will help the province of Alberta to achieve long-term climate change goals and maintain competitiveness in the future global economy.


To be effective in this role, the incumbent must:

  • Be passionate about GHG reductions and have an interest in directly contributing to technological advancement for the long-term competitiveness of Alberta’s industries and economy.
  • Have strong familiarity with GHG reduction technology and innovation relevant to Alberta, particularly for the industrial sector.
  • Enjoy building productive relationships and working with a broad cross-section of innovators, technology developers, industrial operators, and other stakeholders in Alberta’s innovation ecosystem.
  • Possess strong skills in the areas of technoeconomic assessment, program planning, organization, time management, and technical communication.
  • Be a keen and proactive collaborator leveraging key internal team members to deliver on CIP outcomes.


Key Responsibilities


Intake Program Delivery 

  • Support the delivery of ERA’s continuous intake programming, including the Partnership Intake Program, as well as other ERA funding programs. Although this position primarily reports to the Continuous Intake Lead, close collaboration with the Technology Investment Lead and portfolio management team is also required.
  • Coordinate the project proposal evaluation process for various ERA programs; this includes program planning, review material development, reviewer training, and moderation of presentations/consensus sessions.
  • Maintain ERA’s database of external expert reviewers.
  • Support delivery of proposal intake including collection and analysis of proposal statistics/data and performing quality assurance on submitted materials.
  • Coordinate with external expert reviewers for participation in ERA’s evaluation process.
  • Participate in cross-program activities within the intake team including proposal pre-screening, general applicant outreach and support, and proposal handoff between programs.
  • Support development of high-quality deliverables relating to the Call for Proposals process including briefing notes and technical recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records and tracking relating to program and application status
  • As needed, contribute to continuous development of program templates, policies, processes, and criteria.


Applicant/Project Support and Outreach

  • Interact with funding applicants during ERA’s application process to offer guidance and support.
  • Provide feedback to applicants not selected for funding.
  • As needed, act as a technical reviewer and/or proposal advisor for active applications.
  • As needed, act as a project advisor for ERA funding recipients.


Partnerships, Strategy, and Impact

  • Develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including ERA project advisors, expert reviewers, trusted funding partners, and others.
  • Maintain active and ongoing conversations with ERA’s trusted funding partners.
  • Engage with technology developers and innovators to explore and understand opportunities for technology advancement.
  • Work with government departments, industry, innovators, and other stakeholders to identify technology gaps and opportunities.
  • As needed, provide input to strategic ERA initiatives, business planning, and technology strategy.
  • Participate in ERA outreach and engagement activities as needed.
  • As needed, represent ERA at events/speaking opportunities, including participation in panels, delivering presentations, and participating in working groups.


Qualifications and Skills


Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science or a related field
  • 3 years of experience working in field(s) relevant to ERA’s mandate such as innovation & technology development, emissions reduction, environment/sustainability, climate policy, investment, project management and similar;

OR 

  • 5 years experience working in an industry related to ERA’s investment focuses (energy, power, manufacturing, natural resources, forestry, agriculture, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scientific, engineering, business, and project management principles 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Highly proficient in English 
  • Demonstrated experience working with internal, and external clients and stakeholders


Complimentary Qualifications 

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail that reflects ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, competing agendas and heavy client demands 
  • Familiarity with provincial, national, and global climate change policies and programs
  • Strong familiarity with GHG reduction opportunities and key players and policies related to Alberta’s emissions reduction efforts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, senior leaders and external partners 
  • Ability to facilitate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic and changing environment 
  • Systems thinking and management skills to analyze complex issues and identify options or courses of action to address these issues
  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office product suite 
  • Research, writing and editing skills
  • Ability to travel as required


Location

This role will work from at either ERA’s Edmonton or Calgary office. At ERA, we support flexibility by offering employees the option to work remotely on some days, while spending the majority of their time collaborating in person at our office(s) in Edmonton or Calgary.


Compensation

ERA offers competitive compensation in addition to opportunities for personal and professional achievement. The base salary for this position is between $85,000 - $98,000 depending on experience, plus benefits.

Mandatory Requirements
