Your Opportunity:
The Simulation Technical Consultant is part of the eSIM Provincial Simulation Program. Simulation offers learners and teams the opportunity to develop practice readiness and confidence in a safe environment within a customized learning experience with the freedom to learn from mistakes without causing patient harm. The Simulation Technical Consultant plays an integral role in the planning, development, management, and implementation of a wide variety of technologies. Responsibilities include the procurement, implementation, training and the maintenance of a variety of simulation-based equipment and associated technologies. Simulation Technical Consultants are expert technical liaisons with eSIM Simulation Consultants, leadership, educational and administrative end users, project teams, and other key stakeholders (e.g. Information Technology, Telehealth, Clinical Engineering). They support the continuous development, training and support of all users of simulation equipment and simulation spaces. A successful candidate will require excellent communication skills, the ability collaborate with clinical staff and key stockholders of the simulation program. Simulation Technical Consultants also work with the eSIM leadership team on equipment strategy, planning of technical resources, purchasing, equipment budgets, and establishing capital equipment priorities. This position is based out of the Peter Lougheed Hospital but requires frequent travel throughout the province as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical equipment technology. Strong background in IT technology (hardware, software, networking, peripherals). Ability to quickly master, troubleshoot, and repair patient simulators and applications including electronic circuits to the assembly, subassembly, and component level. Ability to manage and maintain electronic and paper records. Effective communicator, including the ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons. Strong organizational skills, client focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse technology issues. Has a positive track record of working independently and as part of a team. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation and collaboration that builds solid relationships with key stakeholders. Flexible and adaptable to changing needs while attending to priority needs at different physical locations throughout the province. Some flexibility of hours may be required. Must be willing to travel throughout the province as needed. Driver’s license required (Class 5 non-GDL). Must be physically able to lift and move simulators and associated equipment (> 50Lbs).
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of experience with medical equipment. Experience with simulation equipment, facilities, audio/visual technologies. Experience in healthcare. Knowledge of clinical and/or adult education. Experience managing projects, including projects involving multiple stakeholders and a variety of equipment/spaces. Familiar with e-Facilities or other electronic record keeping systems. Experience ordering, receiving, and organizing equipment, parts and supplies using iProcurement or a similar system.
